It is a reflection on the permanence from generation to generation of traditional group practices where the body is the main tool of exhibition.

A continuous proposal with the artistic team and with the research of tradition.

TRIBALIZE DANCE

LAIA SANTANACH RETURNS TO THE MERCAT DE LES FLORS WITH 'TRADERE', A REFLECTION ON POPULAR PRACTICES AND THE LIMITS TO WHICH WE SUBJECT THE BODY.

“The daring, the audacity, the identity, are the point of arrival of this piece of tribal music, which brings the outburst to the scene: a party that is primary (not rudimentary), guttural, a bond of union, and that is based on the obsessive repetition, the need to be part of a whole, and that occurs, inevitably, by the other. What would a tradition be without community?

“The piece is a recognition and learning that, often, as immersed as we are, we are not able to see. And because seeing them dance, at five, is always a joy. I hope to have, one day, a knowledge of the body like the one these dancers have, and this presence. And receive the applause that flooded the room and that made us all rise up in a wave of fascination that will last for days and days.

SACRED AND PAGAN

LAIA SANTANACH PREMIERED LAST NIGHT HER NEW CHOREOGRAPHY 'TRADERE', WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE DANSA METROPOLITANA FESTIVAL IN BARCELONA. WE WERE THERE AND THIS SEEMS TO US...

“Laia Santanach, a daring choreographer, enters the rural world from the contemporary gesture and builds a personalized and à la carte neofolk, which draws from very specific sources of popular culture, but which is served mixed, reinterpreted, rewritten and reinvented -as wanting to deceive disguised as alien and abstract-, from a personal and demanding language rigorously executed by a powerful quintet of dancers (her included) resistant to exhaustion and under the framework of a sober and elegant staging, with tremulous and trembling lights , and sometimes delicate and other thunderous sounds created especially by the composer Carlos Martorell (on stage as one more dancer).”

“Laia Santanach was placed last night in the orbit of the choreographers to take into account. Tradere, ambitious choreography, moves and excites, has a diaphanous expository clarity and seduces from its careful staging. “

TRADERE SP: SANTANACH EXPANDS THE FOCUS ON A DANCE WITH ELEGANT FINISHES

“The merit is that the work (and the costumes) is very elegant. There is animality in the extreme forms perhaps, however, a taste for dance is transmitted, to evolve the figures, as if they were the bases of the pineapple castellera. Each foot implies a different construction. The circumference (now holding hands , now separated) does not have a defined center, it is moving. And, in the same way, the shapes are constantly changing, in an intense and precisely executed movement.”

“A round work that is experienced intensely. Santanach has announced the look, beyond the Catalan tradition, and has been able to find well-focused forms and emotions, which marry in that idea of transmitting and repeating, always providing contemporary views and reflections.”
